Coroners Court New South Wales

Important Early Steps for Families in the NSW Coronial Process

This infographic outlines the early stages of the NSW coronial process and highlights key points where families can ask questions, raise concerns, or make requests. This may include practical needs, support needs, or cultural, religious and spiritual considerations. It is intended to help families understand what happens first, who may contact them, and when they can speak with agencies involved in the coronial process.

Families do not need to raise everything at the first point of contact. There will be further opportunities to speak with police, the Coroners Information and Support Program (CISP), Forensic Medicine Social Work, and, where relevant, the Coroners Court.

For further information, contact the Lidcombe Coroners Court Registry on (02) 8584 7777 or at lidcombe.coroners@justice.nsw.gov.au.
Office hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
